Every other page has a similar image.  Allow your child 5-10 seconds to look at the first page.

Turn to next page and identify the differences between the two images.

Place a chip on the image differences.

An alternative way of playing this game which is used in Shichida method classes are

1. Separate the pages (to make the page 'mobile').
2. Show one image for less than 10 seconds.
3. Next, show both similar images and ask the child to identify which was the first image.
4. The child selects the image.
5. If yes, praise them.
6. If no, praise them.  Show them the correct first image.  Show both images and point the differences.

The Photographic Memory Kit Sequence (Book A3)

The Photographic Memory Kit Book A3 Sequence (tools - picture cards)

Bilingual (English and Chinese) description on how to play Sequence.

The exercise starts with few pictures, gradually increasing level of difficulty with more pictures with similar design but different colors.  Your child needs to be more focused and observe details while remembering the sequence patterns.

Select the same picture cards from Tool kit A3.  Place them at random order.  Ask your child to look at the page for 10-20 seconds (or less).  Cover page with paper.

Cover page with paper.  Ask your child to rearrange the picture cards in the same order.  Time given to child varies, if you wish to increase challenge, please reduce the time.

Let's check.  Is it the same sequence?  No?  Show your child the correct sequence, by placing the matching picture below it (see pic).  Good try! and HUG your child whatever the results ;) 

Just a few tips :

• Before the game, you and your child are fed, rested and happy.  Some parents sing a favourite song with funny actions or just hug the child and tell them you love them and enjoy playing these games with them.  When you and your toddler are relaxed, their brains 'open' and absorbs anything you show at that moment.
• Do demonstrate the game (adult plays the game first) if it's new to your child.
• Move to another book with different topics - let's keep the game fresh and fun. 
• Please do not play it if your child is not interested and try again at another time.  Some kids find these games fun a few days later, weeks or even months later.

Every book of the kit has simple instructions on how to play the game in English and Chinese.

Book A2-1 with chips and a card.

There are two different sets of pictures on each page.

Use a blank paper to cover the right side.  Allow 10-20 seconds to remember the pictures on the left side. 

• Move the paper from right to cover the left.
• Ask your child to identify the same objects by placing the chips on the right.

 

Let's check the results.  Is it the same as the objects on the right?  Not all?  Good try and hug your child whatever the results.  Just have fun playing the game as it is training your child for photographic memory.  It is the process that is important not the results ;)

Method 2

Another challenge is having the same type of objects but various designs and colors.  In this case, you child should observe carefully and identify exact match.

The Photography Memory Kit 3x3 position (space memory)

Book A1 3x3 position The first page states the objective and how to play the game in both English and Mandarin.

Before starting the game, parent and child are relaxed and happy.  Just play the game and hug your child before and after the game whatever the results.

This exercise is to train the memory and observation.  The duration of time depends on the number of objects.  You can start with 20 seconds and reduce the time frame to increase the challenge.

Take 10-20 seconds to memorise the position of the objects.  Turn to the next page and place the correct cards on the correct position.

Increase level of difficulty with more cards and decrease the time duration given to your child to remember.

One of the right brain functions identified by brain researchers is the high speed mass memory function.  In simple words, the right brain has the power to memorise massive amount of information at very high speed.  It is also called 'Photographic Memory' which allows us to memorise an entire element in one glance, as through taking a photo snapshot from a camera.

'Secret ingredient' - the parent and child are in a relaxed and happy mood.  No expectations for your child to 'perform' but just play the game and have fun together :)
